Laza

Laza is one of the specific names for Hellfire mentioned in the Quran (Surah Al-Ma'arij). It is described as a "blazing flame" that strips away the skin of the head. This layer of Hell is warned to be the destination for those who turned their backs on the truth and hoarded wealth without fulfilling the rights of the poor. The mention of Laza serves as a profound psychological and spiritual deterrent, urging the believer to avoid greed and arrogance and to remain steadfast in their charity and devotion to the Divine commandments. The name Laza appears in Surah al-Ma'arij: "Indeed, it is a blazing flame (laza), stripping away the skin of the head" (70:15-16). The Prophet said: "O Allah, save me from the Fire" seven times, and the angels say, "May Allah save you" (Tirmidhi). They seek Allah's mercy, give charity, and remain steadfast in faith, knowing that the punishment for turning away is severe, but the reward for righteousness is Paradise. The believer lives with the awareness of Laza, not in paralyzing fear but in motivating hope,hope that by Allah's mercy, they will be saved from the Fire and admitted to Paradise. They take the warnings seriously, act on them, and trust in Allah's forgiveness for their shortcomings. Laza is a reminder that choices have consequences, and the believer chooses the path that leads away from the Fire and toward the eternal gardens of Paradise.
